Marina Hoermanseder’s Berlin

Berlin is home to French – Austrian Designer Marina Hoermanseder. Declared by Vogue as “Berlin’s new sartorial voice”, her celebrated creations represent a bold, feminine individualism. Elegant and eccentric, Berlin inspires creatives and allures culture junkies. Here are Marina’s recommendations when visiting Germany’s coolest city.

Where do you recommend staying in Berlin?

My two favorite hotels in Berlin are definitely The Adlon and Das Stue. Both are not only beautiful hotels but also have amazing locations. The Adlon is pure luxury and a place for all things decadent while Das Stue is also very luxurious, but more of a quiet and stylish hideaway.

Please share your favorite food spots in Berlin with us

For a power breakfast I would recommend Betty’n Caty on Knaack street. There you have to try the avocado toast! For lunch I would have to say Monsieur Vuong, located in Mitte, which is a fantastic and fun Vietnamese restaurant where the menu changes every other day. There are a lot of incredible choices for fine dining in Berlin. My favorites are DUDU (Asian Fusion), Cecconi’s (Italian) and Grill Royal (excellent steaks).

Where do we find the best coffee spot?

One of the best places in town with really good coffee is The Barn, located in the heart of Berlin’s gallery district (Auguststrasse). They also serve delicious homemade cakes and pastries. The staff is hip and friendly and the vibe is just right – really a great place to ease into the day followed by a bit of gallery hopping in the neighborhood.

Do you have a favorite museum?

There is so much wonderful and fascinating art to be seen in Berlin. One of my favorite museums is the Brücke Museum – a small specialized museum focused on German Expressionism (it is quite small so plan 1 hour for a visit). I also love the Berlinische Galerie (museum of modern art, photography and architecture), which presents Berlin artists in historical perspective. Both museums are absolutely worth a visit.

Where do you like to shop in Berlin?

Galeries Lafayette has to be the best shopping in Berlin. The building was beautifully designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. Here you will find all of the high-end brands you want, but the food hall in the basement is a gem and definitely worth seeing and indulging.

And where can we find your brand?

You can shop our products online on our webpage or in selected shops such as Konk Store, Peek & Cloppenburg, as well as at KaDeWe.
